Claude Code, Codex and other coding agents on Linux
AyCode runs on 64-bit Linux as a beta, with the same window as on the Mac and Windows: your coding agents side by side, what they cost in view and your notes as their memory. It uses the agent apps installed on your machine, so the terminal tools you know keep working too.
- 64-bit Linux (x86_64): an AppImage that runs without installing, or a .deb for Ubuntu and Debian.
- Runs Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity, Grok, OpenCode, Cline, Pi, Kimi and more side by side.
- Local models from Ollama or LM Studio through Codex, without signing in.
- Still a beta: the Island, AppShot and meeting recording are Mac only.
Install it
Both files are in the download section. Pick one:
- AppImage, runs without installing:
chmod +x AyCode-<version>-linux-x86_64.AppImage, then start it. On Ubuntu 22.04 and newer it needs FUSE:sudo apt install libfuse2, on 24.04libfuse2t64. - .deb for Ubuntu, Debian and distributions based on them:
sudo apt install ./AyCode-<version>-linux-amd64.deb.
On other distributions, such as Fedora or Arch, use the AppImage. There is no RPM, Flatpak or AUR package yet. The install guide has every step.
What works on Linux
- Your coding agents in one window, each in its own chat or side by side.
- Several agents at once, each in its own git worktree, and commit, push or a pull request from the changes panel.
- Usage and limits: what each agent costs, with budgets you set yourself.
- Your Obsidian vault as a Second Brain, Aylinge and team sessions.
What is still Mac only
The Island at the notch, AppShot, recording meetings in AyNotes and the experimental desktop relays for the Grok and Perplexity apps need the Mac.
Questions
Does AyCode run on Fedora or Arch Linux?
The AppImage is the one to try there; it needs FUSE 2. The .deb is for Ubuntu, Debian and distributions based on them. There is no RPM or AUR package yet.
Is there an ARM64 build for Linux?
Not yet. The Linux files are for x86_64.
Can I use local models on Linux?
Yes. Through Codex, AyCode talks to Ollama or LM Studio on your machine, without signing in. OpenCode, Cline and Pi reach many more models, for example through OpenRouter.
Does AyCode cost anything?
AyCode is free to download and use. The agents run as they are signed in on your machine or with your own API keys, and AyCode resells no tokens.
Try it with the agents you already have
AyCode is free, on the Mac and as a beta on Windows and Linux, and works with the agent apps you already use. AyCode by Ayont, at aycode.ai.
