# Work, Design and the canvas

URL: https://aycode.ai/docs/canvas/

AyCode is not only for code. In Work and Design the agent creates documents, slides, posters and pages, and you watch them grow on the canvas.

## Code, Work and Design

Pick the mode on the start screen or switch it in a chat’s header. In **Work** (AyWork) and **Design** (AyDesign) the agent saves its results in `.aycode/artifacts/` inside the project.

## The canvas

*Screenshot: The canvas shows a poster while the agent writes it, with versions and before/after.*

- Results appear live while the agent writes, with every version kept.
- Compare **Vorher** and **Nachher** (before/after), zoom, and show it in a device frame.
- Export as SVG, HTML, Markdown, PNG or PDF.
- Put comment pins on the draft; they go along with your next message.

## The agent browser

When an agent works on a web app, a browser opens in the right sidebar, only then. A small pill shows the page and what the agent is doing; the cursor outlines what it is about to click. **Übernehmen** hands the page to you until you press **Weiter**.

**Markieren** (mark) turns your clicks into numbered marks instead of clicks. The agent reads them, and **In den Chat** writes them into your message: “make 3 bigger, remove 5”.

## AppShot

First enable AppShot under **Settings → AppShot**. The capture becomes a chat attachment; review its preview before sending the message.

On the Mac, AppShot captures the window in front as an image plus its text, including text scrolled out of view. Press both `⌘` keys, both `⌥` keys, or `⌘⇧2`.

On Windows from 7.4.6, switch to the window you want and press `Ctrl+Shift+2`. AppShot captures an image of that foreground window only, without accessibility text. Some apps do not allow window capture. AppShot is unavailable on Linux.

## The Island

On the Mac a black capsule sits around the notch and shows which chats are working or waiting. Hover it for a list, click to open a chat; it briefly announces finished ones. Choose when it shows under **Settings → Island**.
